Thank you for these disclosures, Georgia and thanks also for your time and effort into researching this. Little annoys me more than the so-called originalists who base their findings on the "intent" of the framers. You are an historian, I am only a history buff, we have read and learned of the conditions of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Washington' DC and New York, New York; but neither of us ever claims to know the intent of persons dead for 200+ years. We can read the Federalist Papers to learn more of the thinking of Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison - but they are only 3 of the 55 men who participated in the writing of the Constitution. Yet Alito and Thomas claim clairvoyance - they know the intent of these 55 men how? Oh, yeah they are all white, all male, and all wealthy and since they also know other wealthy white men today they can deduce the minds of those men sweltering in a large room, with the windows all closed, during a hot July summer in Philidelphia; 150 years before air conditioning in most business buildings . And we're supposed to believe them. Right.

It sickens me that the Supreme Court Justices are so easily manipulated by $$$$s.

Thomas, Alito, Roberts, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh all have hidden financial transactions in their closets. Funny how the US Chamber of Commerce has never lost a case in the Robert's Court.

In Dobbs, Alito went back into the Middle Ages for references. How is this even possible? And he didn't reference a single reference by a woman. Pathetic and disgusting.

I'm afraid I don't understand the extent of the new rule on donor disclosure. Does it mean all donors can be discovered? There is no dark money in politics anymore?

Not quite. There are donor advised funds which are trust where wealthy individuals deposit money into a trust that is sold as allowing the donor to retain control of the election of where the money is donated. But court cases say that the trustees have control over where rhe money is donated. Donors Trust is a big one that has ties to Kichs so all you see is who monet from the trust as a whole goes to. Layers upon layers if obfuscation

Let me have a fantasy. All elections would be funded by the government. Only individuals could donate directly to campaigns. The limit would be $100 to be used towards their public announcement. "PACs" would be illegal because they are a con. Candidates would state their positions. All media would be required to carry publicly funded "ads" from all candidates who qualify with the requisite signatures from registered voters.

And...our favorite: ranked choice voting would be the rule in every contest.

Now I'll go back to sleep and dream some more...
